Application to Delaware College Scholars is now open to high achieving, under-resourced 10th grade students in any Delaware public or charter school. Applicants must have a 2.7 GPA or higher; be in the top 25% of their class; or qualify for AP coursework. Strong preference is given to first-generation college students. The deadline for receiving completed applications is March 10, 2024.

Applicants must complete the 2024 application, provide a personal essay, and receive a recommendation from a representative of their school. AS APPLICANTS COMPLETE THE ONLINE APPLICATION, THEY WILL BE INVITED TO SELECT A TIME SLOT TO BE INTERVIEWED FOR THE PROGRAM.

Applicants must be willing to attend the residential program. Along with other guidelines specific to COVID-19, students will not be able to leave the program and return during the summer session.

Students may initiate the application process if they meet DCS selection criteria. Students will then need to ensure that someone from their school (a principal, assistant principal, counselor, English teacher or math teacher) completes the online recommendation form.

FOR COUNSELORS, TEACHERS + PRINCIPALS

To ensure the strongest possible cohort of students, we request that school and district representatives take the lead in the recruitment process. Below are important instructions to ensure all information is received in a timely manner.

1. School personnel (a principal, assistant principal, counselor, English teacher or math teacher) must fill out the recommendation form for selected applicants online.

2. Students may also initiate the application process if they meet DCS selection criteria.

3. If a completed recommendation is received for a student before their application has been submitted, the student will receive an email with a link to the student portion to complete and submit online.

4. Applications must be complete (recommendation and student portion) by March 10, 2024.
