Delaware College Scholars is Going Virtual

In response to the global pandemic that we are all facing together as a community, DCS is doubling down on our efforts to support every single scholar – from our newest C7 members who will be accepted this month to our C1 pioneers, many of whom will graduate from college this spring. (Congratulations!)

In short, this summer our virtual program will:

Open on Saturday June 13th and remain open through the middle of July. This extended time beyond our traditional 3-week Summer Session will permit all scholars to complete their DCS work and assignments alongside any public school or work commitments. We have adjusted our curriculum to be flexible and timely for scholars to work at their own, independent pace without sacrificing the rigor of summer programming.

Facilitate 4 major subjects prepared and directed by our DCS faculty and student-advisors. (Two dozen Humanities, Test Prep, College Advisory and College Counseling/Essay courses in total)

Anticipate that each scholar and school district will have different schedules this summer. We are asking DCS faculty to establish pre-assigned office hours for students to participate in one-on-one and small group meetings. Similarly, student-advisors will be available for small group meetings with scholars.

Maintain the overall rigor and high standards of our program. DCS is not in any way watering down program content but rather adjusting for a dynamic virtual platform.

To be clear, the DCS Summer Session will take place this year. We are enhancing our academic intervention using a virtual platform that will not be restricted to just three weeks in the summer. We will work even harder and longer for our scholars – this summer and beyond – and we look forward to our renewed residential programming in 2021.
