DCS Student-Athletes

We love supporting our scholars, both in and out of the classroom. Many of our scholars also have talents on the field, court, and track. Read about some of our current student-athletes and their incredible contributions to their teams and schools.

 
 
 


Cohort 9 scholar Dalton Cleveland received the DIAA Student Athlete Academic Award for the Milford Soccer team. This award recognizes his success both in the classroom and on the pitch. A National Honors Society Member, Dalton works for The Country Rest Home in Greenwood, Delaware as a Certified Nursing Assistant.


Cohort 6 scholar Tiwalade Ogunfadebo is a red-shirt sophomore for the Goldey-Beacom College men’s soccer team. This past season, Tiwalade helped the Lightning make the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament for the first time since 2019.

Cohort 7 scholar Joe Eyiolowope is a sophomore for the Swarthmore College men’s soccer team. Joe played in all 17 games, netted one goal and one assist, and helped the Garnet reach the Centennial Conference playoffs .

Cohort 4 scholar Cierra DePrisco is a proud first-generation college graduate of Missouri Valley State College where she was a member of their cheerleading and track & field team.

Cohort 6 scholar Tyra Watson is a member of the Thomas Jefferson University Rams women’s lacrosse team. The Pre-Medical Studies major plays defense and helped the Rams advance all the way to the CACC Tournament Finals

Cohort 9 scholar Destiny Smith plays basketball for Howard High School of Technology. Last season, Destiny earned 1st Team All-Conference honors for her outstanding play.

Cohort 9 scholar Trinity Fortune-Medine is a multi-sport athlete at Mount Pleasant High School. A two-time captain of the basketball team, Trinity is also a member of the Green Knights track & field team and their unified flag football team.

Cohort 10 scholar Esther Nyankundi is a multi-sport athlete for the Christiana High School Vikings. Esther is a member of the varsity volleyball and basketball teams.

Cohort 9 scholar Vicky Dominguez is a proud member of the Mount Pleasant High School field hockey team. A team captain, Vicky is an Academic All-Conference performer and serves as President of the Hispanic Honors Society.

Cohort 9 scholar Madison Viola is a multi-sport athlete at Mount Pleasant High School. Madison is a member of the Green Knights unified flag football and basketball teams, while also playing on the tennis team. Madison also is a member of the school’s Robotics Team and competed in the 2023 VEX Robotics World Championship last spring.

Upon graduating from Polytech HS, Cohort 8 scholar Bruce Nyandemo enlisted as a Reservist in the United States Marine Corps and recently graduated from Basic Combat Training. Bruce will begin his college career at Shenandoah University in January where he plans to pursue a career in Physical Therapy. Bruce will also be a midfielder on the men’s lacrosse team.

Cohort 9 scholar Denise Moratin is a multi-sport athlete at Howard High School of Technology. She is a member of the XC and soccer teams. When she is not in the classroom or on the athletic fields, Denise works for the Prothonotary's office in the Superior Court of Delaware as part of her co-op.

Cohort 9 scholar Jhana Compton is a multi-sport athlete at St. George’s Tech HS. Jhana, a member of the volleyball and track & field teams, won the Most Improved Player award for her outstanding play on the volleyball court last fall.

Cohort 9 scholar Kayla Gamboa-Alvarado is a four-year member of the varsity soccer team at Milford Senior HS. When she is not in class or on the pitch, Kayla works as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Cohort 9 scholar A’Zaiyah Fullman is a member of the varsity basketball team at Milford Senior HS. She also serves as a member of the Black Student Union and works as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
